Movements of Rapier - General Montgomery's train

The "War Office" direction for the movement of Gen.Montgomery's special train "Rapier". Arrived Dalwhinnie Tuesday 9th May, departed Saturday 13th May 1944. This train did not have a dedicated locomotive - it was hauled by "black fives"-powerful steam engines. The steam heating was supplied by the locomotive "Ben Alder" which travelled down from Aviemore. The "Ben Alder" was scrapped in 1963.
